Marbling Madness loves communicating science and has tried to make this kit as realistic as possible, thus giving a peek into the life of a chemist. Based on a burst water main polluting a river, the kit investigates water hardness, and involves a mini chemistry project in which the source of the leak is determined. The kit contains the answers to the module which are sealed so opened after completion. The kit is a start to finish module which looks into the principle of water hardness and how it can be tested. The kit looks into many key concepts in chemistry, such as contamination and calibration and the use of de-ionised water, as well as looking at end points and indicators and there vital contribution to chemistry in general.
The kit also touches on the use of data handling, looking at plotting graphs and recording data. The answers to all the questions, results and calculations are provided at the end of the module so you can see how well you performed. As with most of Marbling Madness products, you carry out the module in the base of the case so you don't make a mess!
